Anthony A. Scaduto, M.D.
Interim President and Chief Executive Officer
Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital
Dear Friends:

Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital (LAOH) has undergone many changes during its lifetime, but none more dramatic - or with the potential for such broad and lasting impact - than the growth and transformation happening today.

During our first century of service, we treated over two million children while simultaneously advancing musculoskeletal medicine worldwide through research and education. This commitment to service remains our priority as we continue to develop innovative and effective ways to bring expert and compassionate medical care to children with disabling orthopaedic injuries and disorders.

In 1998, two of the most prestigious medical institutions in Los Angeles - Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital and UCLA - forged a far-reaching strategic alliance to broaden the scope of both organizations and bring new and expanded programs for patient care, research and education in musculoskeletal disorders to Southern California and beyond.

This alliance is mutually beneficial and supports our respective missions: To deliver leading-edge patient care, research, and education (UCLA); and to provide outstanding care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders and through the support of the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation, to provide care for children regardless of ability to pay and advance care worldwide for all musculoskeletal patients through medical education and scientific research (LAOH).

LAOH continues to be an independent non-profit charitable organization. We are governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, and fundraise to provide medical care to our children without financial resources. The generous donations from our family of benefactors remain at LAOH with the sole objective of benefitting our young patients.

The January 2012 opening of the new Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital is the result of our alliance with UCLA. The Orthopaedic Hospital Institute, located in the north wing of the new hospital, houses the Renee and Meyer Luskin Children’s Clinic of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital and provides treatment for children with orthopaedic needs. Jointly funded and owned by LAOH and UCLA, the new hospital helps ensure that we will continue to be the primary provider of pediatric orthopaedic care in Los Angeles and the only safety net for families without the financial resources to seek the best possible care for their children.

I hope that you will take the time to visit our website to learn more about LAOH and upcoming events at our downtown medical campus as well as our new medical facility in Santa Monica. While we continue to grow and evolve, we look forward to another century of the work we do best - helping children regain the gift of motion.

Sincerely,

Anthony A. Scaduto, M.D.
Interim President and CEO
